Holy Trinity Building Project 2010-2012

Mar 31st, 2010 by Wayne Schuller | 0

Holy Trinity are planning a number of renovations and the building of a new hall. This project has been under discussion since 2008 by Vestry and the building sub-committee.

The plans include the renovation of the current church hall to be a carpeted and fully equipped meeting space for church services and other gatherings. This will immediately benefit our 1:30pm bi-lingual youth congregation, our 10am Sunday School ministry and other mid-week ministries. The stage part of the hall will be converted into staff office spaces, and meeting rooms will be expanded.

Outside the plan is to build a new multi-purpose hall, which will be accessible from the current buildings but also from outside. This will be of use to youth + CEBS groups, primary age boys and girls groups, young adults sport ministry and others.

Time-line:

  • 2008 – Vestry have ongoing discussions about options for expanding meeting and ministry spaces. A building sub-committee is formed
  • May 2009 – Paul Barker raises the building project in Inside Look.
  • June 2009 – Further information was published in Inside Look (and special building insert).
  • June 2009 – Paul Barker led 6 open consultations with the parish
  • June 2009 – In principle support from Diocese of Melbourne committees (Archbishop in Council, Property & Building Committees).
  • August 2009 – Rationale for the ministry uses of the external hall published in Inside Look.
  • October 2009 – Building committee gave a public presentation to a parish wide congregational meeting, based on feedback from previous consultations with time for questions and comments.
  • Early 2010 – Council approval of initial plans.
  • March 2010 – Visitation Program begins to every household in the parish.
