A prophet refuses God’s commands, flees across the waters, is thrown overboard by zealous pagan sailors, saved by a giant fish and cast up on a beach.

So begins one of the Bible’s most famous stories, one which has intrigued Christian readers for centuries. Is Jonah a Christ-like figure, spending three days in the belly of the whale before being sent to save a lost city? Or is he a disobedient sulker whom God teaches a lesson about love and mercy?

Join us as our senior pastor Andrew Reid follows Jonah’s journey to the city of Nineveh. He considers what God might be teaching Jonah through the voyage, and what lessons we ourselves can learn about God’s compassion, his power and his patience.

Holy Trinity are planning a number of renovations and the building of a new hall. This project has been under discussion since 2008 by Vestry and the building sub-committee.

The plans include the renovation of the current church hall to be a carpeted and fully equipped meeting space for church services and other gatherings. This will immediately benefit our 1:30pm bi-lingual youth congregation, our 10am Sunday School ministry and other mid-week ministries. The stage part of the hall will be converted into staff office spaces, and meeting rooms will be expanded.

Outside the plan is to build a new multi-purpose hall, which will be accessible from the current buildings but also from outside. This will be of use to youth + CEBS groups, primary age boys and girls groups, young adults sport ministry and others.

Time-line:

2008 – Vestry have ongoing discussions about options for expanding meeting and ministry spaces. A building sub-committee is formed
